The Be Free™ Pod is an innovative new way to eliminate ostomy odor 24-hours a day when used with our Be Free™ Lubricating Odor Eliminator (liquid). It is recommended for those with liquid to semi-liquid stool.
How does it work?
The Be Free System's most unique feature is the Be Free Pod, which eliminates odors continuously for 24 hours a day when used with a liquid deodorant. The Be Free Pod has been impregnated with a highly concentrated version of our proprietary liquid Be Free Odor Eliminator, making it an odor killer in its own right. However, it should be used in combination with our liquid Be Free Odor Eliminator for maximum, sustained odor elimination (or the liquid deodorant of your choice).
In addition to being impregnated with deodorant, the Be Free Pod constantly absorbs, retains, and disperses the liquid deodorant you put into your pouch. It also absorbs the liquid portion of the bad stuff (effluent, fecal matter, poop, or whatever you prefer to call it), then disperses it back into the pouch in deodorized form. This is made possible by the Be Free Pod's wicking properties and the movement of your body, both of which cause the deodorant to circulate constantly in your pouch, making it the only ostomy odor elimination product of its kind on the market today.
As we all know, ostomy odor is strong stuff, so we highly recommend you "re-charge" your Pod twice a day with our Be Free Liquid Deodorant:

How to use The Be Free™ Pod with the Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator
Step 1 - Insert the Be Free Pod into your new pouch before applying (see videos or PDF instructions).
Step 2 - Apply the liquid Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator 2X a day - once in the morning and again at night before you go to bed and as needed.
Step 3 - Leave the Be Free Pod in your pouch for as long as you wear your pouch.

How do you “re-charge” a Be Free Pod?
Apply a couple of gentle squirts into your pouch, just as you would with any liquid deodorant, then you have three choices. You can:

rely on the movement of your body throughout the day to circulate the deodorant throughout your pouch, or

After you apply liquid deodorant, place your fingers on the outside of your pouch and squeeze the Be Free Pod a couple of times to facilitate the absorption of liquid deodorant.

Do both. Whatever works best for you.
For your convenience, the Be Free Pods and Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator can be purchased separately as well. Of course, if you have a favorite liquid deodorant, you can use that as well with the Be Free Pod.

Is it necessary to squeeze the Be Free Pod to absorb liquid deodorant?
No. Throughout the day, the ordinary movement of your body will cause the Be Free Pod to absorb and disperse liquid deodorant continuously. However, after you apply liquid deodorant to your pouch, placing your hands on the outside of the pouch, you can squeeze the Be Free Pod to facilitate absorption.
Do I have to use liquid deodorant with the Be Free Pod?
Yes. Even though the Be Free Pod has been impregnated with a highly concentrated version of our Be Free liquid deodorant, and therefore has odor eliminating properties of its own, it was designed specifically to be used with a liquid deodorant. Put differently, the Be Free Pod greatly intensifies the odor eliminating properties of your liquid deodorant. The Be Free Pod also constantly absorbs, retains, and disperses the liquid deodorant you put into your pouch.
Of course, you can use any liquid deodorant you want. However, if you want the most effective odor control, we recommend using the Be Free Pod exclusively with our liquid Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator.
Can I use other liquid deodorants with the Be Free Pod?
Yes. However, the Be Free Pod was designed to be used with our liquid Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator, which we highly recommend for best results.
Do I have to use Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator with the Be Free Pod?
No. You can use any liquid deodorant you want. However, for the most effective odor control, we recommend using the Be Free Pod exclusively with our Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator.
Can I use essential oils with the Be Free Pod?
Yes, but caution is advised. Some essential oils are safe to use this way, and others are not. We strongly recommend you read the essential oil's product safety information before using it in your pouch. One suggested rule of thumb: if the essential oil can be safely consumed by you, then it is probably safe to use in your pouch.
Can I use mouth wash or extracts with the Be Free Pod instead of a liquid deodorant?
Yes. Any liquid product you are currently using in your pouch should work with the Be Free Pod.
Can I rinse out the pouch while a Be Free Pod is in my pouch?
If you rinse out your pouch, we recommend you squeeze your pod to eliminate excess liquid and reapply deodorant to your pouch. By the way, our liquid Be Free Lubricating Odor Eliminator will help keep your pouch clean by lubricating the inner wall of your pouch, making it easier to empty its contents and keep it clean.
